There’s only one movie of Arnold Schwarzenegger's that he always hoped would be revisited, and luckily for him, he got his wish.
The 78-year-old recently met with Glen Powell and director Edgar Wright at the premiere of 2025's The Running Man, a remake of his 1987 film of the same title.
“The only movie that I always wanted to have redone of my movies was The Running Man," Schwarzenegger told Wright, 51, and Powell, 37. "So now, this one really upped it and did exactly that. The action was unbelievable and creative."

The original film, which was directed by Paul Michael Glaser and loosely based on the book by Stephen King, penned under the name Richard Bachman, starred Schwarzenegger, María Conchita Alonso, Richard Dawson, Yaphet Kotto, Jim Brown and Jesse Ventura.
The movie took place in a dystopian world and followed Schwarzenegger’s Ben Richards, a former captain who is arrested and recruited to appear on the government-run game show called The Running Man.
Now, nearly four decades later, Powell is putting his own spin on the character.

Before signing on to the project, Powell said he felt the need to get Schwarzenegger’s blessing, which he did.

When talking to PEOPLE in April of this year, the Twisters star said that he and Wright connected with Schwarzenegger over FaceTime.
"Arnold gave us his blessing," Powell said. "[His son] Patrick Schwarzenegger is a great friend of mine, and I asked Patrick if I could talk to Arnold, and I hadn't seen Arnold since we shot Expendables in Bulgaria."
Director Wright was also grateful for Schwarzenegger’s stamp of approval after seeing the film, sharing an Instagram post featuring a picture of himself, Schwarzenegger and Powell holding a fake $100 bill with the iconic actor's face on it.
“Ben Richards meets Ben Richards. The legendary @schwarzenegger came to see our new adaptation of @runningmanmovie and gave it a huge thumbs up," Wright wrote in his post. "I can’t tell you how sweet and generous it has been to have Arnold’s support. He wished us all the luck with our version before we started shooting and loved the finished product. Especially his face on our new currency! Thank YOU, Mr President."
The Running Man releases in theaters on Nov. 14.
