Since June of 2024 Cherie Jimenez has portrayed Gabi Hernandez on the Peacock’s Days of Our Lives. While fans continue to compare her performance to that of former Gabi portrayer Camila Banus, online speculation has fueled rumors of tension between the two actresses, rumors Jimenez is now directly addressing.
Jimenez addressed the speculation during a recent interview with YouTuber Sasher Scotty, where she discussed joining Days of Our Lives and her experience stepping into the long-running role.
When asked about persistent rumors circulating on social media, particularly on Facebook, Jimenez addressed them directly. “There is no war. There is no animosity. There is nothing ill between Camila and me,” she said.
Jimenez added that she would welcome the opportunity to meet Banus in person, suggesting it could help put the rumors to rest. “So that we could just take a picture and be like, ‘Hey guys, all right, enough is enough,” she explained. “Like, it is all good.”
She emphasized that she and Banus have never met or communicated. “I’ve never met her, so I don't know her. Her and I have had no communication,” Jimenez said. “So, there is that, and I respect that. It is what it is. But no, there is no war.”
Jimenez also addressed speculation about her future on Days of Our Lives. “I am not leaving Days,” she said. “As far as I know, she's not coming back,” she said. “If that's something that she did want to do, she could always come back as another character or if they came to me and said ‘so we want Camila to come back as Gabi and you got to play like a twin or something,’ I mean, whatever. Sure. I'm just happy to be here.”
Jimenez spoke candidly about her appreciation for the series and its leadership. “Days has been nothing but amazing to me,” she said. “The producers have been amazing. The show is so respectful.”
She clarified that she could only speak to her own experience on the show. “I don't know what anybody dealt with before I was there, or what anyone's situation has been,” Jimenez said, “but I have been met with such respect and just honored and really they have been so amazing to me.”

Jimenez also referenced longtime Days of Our Lives stars recent comments about their future on the show, adding she feels the same. “I've seen little things of Suzanne [Rogers] and Deidre [Hall] talking about Days and I think Suzanne was like, ‘You're gonna have to drag me out of there,’ and I'm right there with her,” she said. “I'm not going anywhere. I love this role. Every day I grow. I become a better actor.”
