General Hospital alum Rick Springfieldhas fans saying he’s channeling his soap opera roots in a new take on his song "Jessie’s Girl."

Springfield will forever be known to soap fans as hunky Dr. Noah Drake on the ABC soap.The rockstar was on General Hospital from 1981 to 1983, then returned for another two-year stint from 2005 to 2007.

During his time at General Hospital, Springfield’s song “Jessie’s Girl” was not only released but also became a massive hit almost instantly. The other day, the actor did a take on the chart-topper that gave a nod to his time in the soap world.

In an iHeartRadio interview, Springfield did a dramatic reading of “Jessie’s Girl,” which, as fans know, is very upbeat and catchy. This new version was nothing like that at all.

The footage was uploaded to Instagram, with fans flooding the comments section over the very soap opera monologue twist on Springfield’s hit song.

“Tapping into the soap opera acting skills. 🔥,” expressed one fan. Another stated, “Feeling some General Hospital.”

Springfield’s character, Noah Drake, was mentioned more than once, with fans saying, “Dr. Noah Drake is back!!” and “You had me at Noah Drake. 😍🔥😍”

“My drama teacher assigned us to do this in high school. And ever since then I look at songs and hear how they’re sound acted out lol,” shared a fan. One fan said, “I love this!!! That takes me back to my youth. I had such a crush on Rick Springfield.”

A different fan spilled, “I think we all played along with the charade.” A fan insisted, “It would be cool if someone set this to music one day.”

“He played in Dallas this summer and sounded great! He’s 76 and was still running around the stage with his shirt off. Rock’ n’ roll!!” insisted a fan.

The rocker looking good was brought up a few times. “This man does not age..” and “How is he still so HOT” were some of those comments.

“I always knew it was like this! 🔥,” wrote a fan. Another added, “Just proves why we love him, still ❤️.”

More comments happy about this rendition of “Jessie’s Girl” included, “Ha ha so cute. ❤️,” “LOVE this 😅,” and “Love this!! ❤️”

While most of Springfield’s fans were all about his dramatic reading of the hit song, not everyone was here for it. There were some comments creeped out by it, with fans writing, “This really creeped me out,” and “It's creepy when you don't sing it 😂.”

Over four decades after Rick Springfield debuted onGeneral Hospital, he is still rocking out and acting, too. Springfield most recently appeared on All’s Fair, yes, the Kim Kardashian-led show, as a musician.

General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
