Ten years ago, Big Brother 17 kicked off with a "BB Takeover" that brought two recent Amazing Race contestants into the house to become full-fledged houseguests. And, a decade later, Big Brother is finally returning the favor, as the upcoming 38th season of CBS's Emmy-winning travel reality series, premiering Thursday, Sept. 25, features a cast entirely made up of Big Brother alums and loved ones.
Of course, this isn't the only instance of crossing the streams with these two titans of CBS reality TV. Big Brother has had a presence on The Amazing Race ever since BB Season 4 runner-up Alison Irwin appeared on TAR Season 5 with her then-boyfriend. And, over the past 20 years, multiple former houseguests have made their way out of Studio City and onto the plane for a life-changing globetrotting million-dollar journey.

Two pairs of "showmances," Big Brother 19's Cody Nickson and Jessica Graf, and Big Brother 23's Derek Xiao and Claire Rehfuss, crossed the finish line in first place on Seasons 30 and 34, respectively. Big Brother duos made up a third of The Amazing Race's 31st season, which pitted all-stars from both shows, plus Survivor, against each other. And Big Brother champ Rachel Reilly, currently back in the house for her third time this summer, also raced around the world three times, making the final leg twice alongside husband Brendon Villegas.
Now, 13 new teams have arrived on the scene to truly find out if The Amazing Race is supposed to be fun and good. There will, however, be some new reality TV blood in the water, as – with one exception – each former houseguest will be racing alongside a loved one. This standout-filled cast of former houseguests includes five people who made the jury, two recipients of the "America's Favorite Houseguest" fan-favorite prize, and three winners.

The new racers will be thrown into the deep end immediately and learn to "expect the unexpected" as, for the first time in Amazing Race history, they'll compete in a task before even beginning the race. The first team to finish the pre-starting line challenge in Amsterdam will receive an Express Pass, which they can use to skip any task at any time. The team that comes in last will face a Hazard, which will force them to complete an additional task to avoid being eliminated first. The Amazing Race 38 will send the teams on an adventure across Europe, as, according to a press release from CBS, they will "reach new heights in Prague, bathe like a king in Budapest and skydive nearly 13,000 feet over Romania."
Check out the gallery below to find out more about the 13 teams competing this season, as well as a sneak peek of what's to come. The Amazing Race 38 premieres on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 9:00 p.m. ET on CBS.

Angela Murray (L) and Lexi Murray (R) on 'The Amazing Race 38'Sonja Flemming/CBSAngela Murray and Lexi Murray
Relationship: Mother and daughterAge: 51 & 23Occupation: Real estate agent & EstheticianCurrent location: Syracuse, UT & Las Vegas, NV
Angela cemented herself immediately as one of the biggest presences on Big Brother 26 last summer. Winning the first Head of Household, her paranoia led her to go on an instantly iconic rant, standing at the top of the stairs one morning to call out Matt Hardeman (AKA "Crazy Eyes"). While Angela's actions made her an outcast, she was able to hang on in the house (even without her beloved charcuterie board), getting the Veto used on her a record three times. Angela was finally evicted in sixth place after lasting seven nominations during her time in the game.

Relationship: SistersAge: 25 & 22Occupation: Medical student & Graduate studentCurrent location: Washington, DC & Los Angeles, CA
Hannah was a key member of "The Cookout" alliance in Big Brother 23, an allegiance that formed between the Black houseguests to work together. The group made history, taking out the rest of the house to comprise the entire Final Six and guaranteeing Big Brother would see its first civilian Black winner. Unfortunately for Hannah, she was taken out soon after the Cookout reached their goal, getting eliminated in a double eviction in fifth place.

Izzy Gleicher (L) and Paige Seber (R) on 'The Amazing Race 38'Sonja Flemming/CBSIzzy Gleicher and Paige Seber
Relationship: Engaged coupleAge: 34 & 32Occupation: Flutist & Lighting designerCurrent location: New York, NY
Despite not knowing anything about Big Brother going into 2023, Izzy instantly fell in love with the game, watching every season twice in six months. She came to reality TV as a Survivor fan, which paid off handily when she saw legendary castaway Cirie Fields would be playing alongside her. The two were locked in from the beginning, part of a group that ran the house for the first month and a half of Big Brother 25. But things got turned upside-down in an instant, as the house flipped to evict Izzy in twelfth place, wanting to take out one of the biggest power players thus far – in a pig costume to boot.

Jack Baham (L) and Chelsie Baham (R) on 'The Amazing Race 38'Sonja Flemming/CBSJack Baham and Chelsie Baham
Relationship: Father and daughterAge: 58 & 28Occupation: LA city firefighter & Motivational speakerCurrent location: Rancho Cucamonga, CA
Chelsie got hit with a few losses early on in Big Brother 26, losing her right to compete and vote early in the first week, as well as two of her tightest allies in the prejury. But she was able to rally, helping mastermind some massive blindsides, as well as recruit key allies to her side towards the late stretch. Additionally, Chelsie kept herself safe through competitions, tying the record for Head of Household wins in a season. After getting taken to the Final Two by her most loyal ally, the jury handily awarded her the victory for the absolutely dominant performance she executed strategically and competitively. Chelsie made history as the first woman to unanimously win a civilian season of Big Brother, and is touted by fans as one of the best winners in recent memory.

Jack Palumbo (L) and Enzo Palumbo (R) on 'The Amazing Race 38'Sonja Flemming/CBSJack Palumbo and Enzo Palumbo
Relationship: BrothersAge: 40 & 47Occupation: Financial analyst & Lineboat handlerCurrent location: Marlton, NJ & Bayonne, NJ
Enzo was a pivotal part of one of the most dominant alliances in Big Brother history: "The Brigade." The quartet of men steamrolled Season 12, as the "Meow Meow" clawed his way all the way to the Final Three, where he became the final member of the jury. A decade later, Enzo returned to the house for Season 22, Big Brother: All-Stars. Despite being years removed from the game, he was able to recreate his success, working once more in an undercover group with fellow New Jersey native Cody Calafiore. Enzo again made it to finale night and was taken to the Final Two, where he lost unanimously. Enzo also appeared on the first season of The Challenge: USA, and while he made the final, he quit in controversial fashion after struggling during the opening swimming portion.

Jas Bains (L) and Jag Bains (R) on 'The Amazing Race 38'Sonja Flemming/CBSJas Bains and Jag Bains
Relationship: Brothers/entrepreneursAge: 28 & 27Occupation: EntrepreneursCurrent location: Omak, WA
Jag made history in multiple ways during his 100-day stay on Big Brother 25. Walking in as the first Sikh houseguest in the show's history, his game was soon thrown into disarray when his initial alliance fell apart. Jag was evicted unanimously in Week 4, only to be saved anonymously by a power from his number one ally, Matt Klotz. After helping to flip the game halfway through the season, Jag and Matt then took power, forming an alliance among the best competitors to dominate the rest of the season. The two "Minutemen" made it to the Final Two, where Jag's control of the game was rewarded with a victory. He not only became the first houseguest to win after being previously evicted, but also broke a nearly 20-season record for most competition wins in a season, coming in first in 10 challenges.Read our interview with Jag Bains
Joseph Abdin (L) and Adam Abdin (R) on 'The Amazing Race 38'Sonja Flemming/CBSJoseph Abdin and Adam Abdin
Relationship: BrothersAge: 28 & 24Occupation: Attorney & Law studentCurrent location: Palm Beach, FL & Miami, FL
Joseph got a dose of the unexpected before Big Brother 24 even began, thrown into the season as a last-minute alternate. It took a few weeks (and a 25th birthday) before he became active in the game, helping put together the crucial "Leftovers" alliance. The group of outsiders dominated the rest of the prejury, with the rest of the house being none the wiser. But Joseph's game was undone during a brand-new twist that split the house in half. Sent in the backyard to live out in "Dyrefest," he was turned on by his fellow Leftovers, taken out in ninth place. Joseph also briefly dated his fellow Season 24 castmate Taylor Hale following their time in the house.Read our interview with Joseph Abdin
Kat Dunn (L) and Alex Romo (R) on 'The Amazing Race 38'Sonja Flemming/CBSKat Dunn and Alex Romo
Relationship: DatingAge: 35 & 32Occupation: Influencer & PhotographerCurrent location: Dallas, TX
Kat put herself in hot water immediately on Big Brother 21, drawing negative attention for her paranoid-laden catchphrase "Are you bitches conspiring against me?" She survived eviction the first week, however, and got embroiled in drama around a possible showmance with Jackson Michie and an out-of-game relationship with Holly Allen. After surviving the block again due to the majority alliance imploding, she finally got voted out in tenth place in her third time facing eviction. Kat has gone on to create her own podcast, "The Conspiring B*tches," where she's recapped current seasons of Big Brother, interviewing the evicted houseguests.Read our interview with Kat Dunn
Kristine Bernabe (L) and Rubina Bernabe (R) on 'The Amazing Race 38'Sonja Flemming/CBSKristine Bernabe and Rubina Bernabe
Relationship: SistersAge: 38 & 36Occupation: Floral designer & Content creatorCurrent location: Los Angeles, CA
While small in stature, Rubina had a big presence early on in Big Brother 26. After surviving a close eviction vote, she started a showmance with Tucker Des Lauriers, only for their time together to be cut short a couple of weeks later. Rubina became the last remaining member of her trio, one of the tightest alliances in the game, getting evicted in fourth place.Read our interview with Rubina Bernabe
Kyland Young (L) and Taylor Hale (R) on 'The Amazing Race 38'Sonja Flemming/CBSKyland Young and Taylor Hale
Relationship: DatingAge: 34 & 30Occupation: Content creator & Media personalityCurrent location: Los Angeles, CA
Like Hannah, Kyland was also part of the "Cookout" alliance on Big Brother 23. He established himself as one of the big threats to win by the endgame, with his strategic mind and proficiency in competitions. But Kyland's dreams of a "beat the best" finale got dashed when his alliance chose to evict him in fourth place. Shocked, he confronted Xavier Prather about the move on his way out, in one of the most tense exits in Big Brother history. After his time in the house, Kyland began to make a name for himself on The Challenge. He has appeared on three seasons to date, most recently impressing the competition by making it to the finals of Season 40.Read our interview with Kyland
Taylor had the roughest start for an eventual winner in Big Brother history. She was targeted right off the bat in Season 24, deemed public enemy number one by the majority alliance. While she survived due to her biggest adversary's sudden departure, things didn't get particularly easier for Taylor, as she continued to get talked down to by other people in the house. She did eventually get a foothold in the game strategically, becoming a part of the "Leftovers" alliance that helped her get to the jury. After having more ups and downs in the endgame, Taylor made it to the Final Two, where she put forward a powerhouse speech about her journey in the game. The woman who proclaimed herself a "sword, not a shield" cut deep with the jury, winning near-unanimously. Taylor became not only the first Black woman to win the civilian version of Big Brother, but also the first houseguest in history to both win the season and the "America's Favorite Houseguest" fan-favorite vote. She is currently a co-host of the companion show Big Brother: Unlockedalongside Season 16 winner Derrick Levasseur.Read our interview with Taylor
Megan Turner (L) and Matt Turner (R) on 'The Amazing Race 38'Sonja Flemming/CBSMegan Turner and Matt Turner
Relationship: NewlywedsAge: 24 & 25Occupation: Private jet specialist & Content creatorCurrent Location: Providence, RI
Laid-back Turner got a wake-up call early on when his closest ally became one of the first evicted from the house. He immediately won Head of Household and was a crucial part of the "Leftovers" coming together. Turner spent two more turns in the HoH room, overseeing major moves that took out big threats in the game. When Turner made it to finale night with Monte Taylor, he thought his close ally would bring him to the Final Two. But, rather than facing the jury, Turner had to join them, as he was taken out in third place.Read our interview with Matt Turner
Natalie Negrotti (L) and Stephanie Negrotti (R) on 'The Amazing Race 38'Sonja Flemming/CBSNatalie Negrotti and Stephanie Negrotti
Relationship: SistersAge: 34 & 36Occupation: TV host & HospitalityCurrent location: New York, NY & Kauai, HI
Natalie played alongside four veterans of the game on Big Brother 18. She wound up in a showmance with one of them, forming a tight strategic and romantic duo with James Huling. The two were able to ride the middle for most of the game, especially during a few tumultuous house flips. But, when the two were put up by Victor Arroyo (an Amazing Race alum himself!), she was taken out over James in sixth place. Natalie went on to compete in three seasons of The Challenge, going to the finals once alongside her Big Brother rival Paulie Calafiore.
Tucker Des Lauriers (L) and Eric Des Lauriers (R) on 'The Amazing Race 38'Sonja Flemming/CBSTucker Des Lauriers and Eric Des Lauriers
Relationship: BrothersAge: 31 & 32Occupation: Chef & Senior research analystCurrent location: Brooklyn, NY & Boston, MA
Tucker is regarded as one of the biggest wildcards in recent memory. Despite not knowing much about Big Brother before setting foot in Season 26, he immediately wanted to make big moves. His repertoire included volunteering as a pawn to take out his rival Lisa Weintraub, as well as using the Veto on Angela, despite being on the block in an attempt to make a power play, shocking the house (and Angela herself). Tucker made such big swings because he always had a safety net: Winning the brand-new "A.I. Arena" competition on eviction night to never face the vote. However, Tucker's third nomination was the charm. The first time he lost an "A.I. Arena," done in by his love of puzzles, the house flipped to take him out, feeling he was a volatile threat who was growing support due to his showmance with Rubina. Despite finishing in eleventh place, Tucker left his mark on the season with the audience. He won "America's Favorite Houseguest" on finale night, becoming the first player who didn't make the jury to receive the prize in the show's history.Read our interview with TuckerDes Lauriers
