Lauren, the estranged wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was shot April 8, 2025, after police responded to a hit-and-run car crash near the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles, where the couple lived. Several suspects were seen leaving the scene, and police blocked off an area.

Lauren, having no connection to the original accident, came out of her home brandishing a handgun and fired toward officers. Lauren was struck by gunfire and retreated into her home, according to an LAPD news release. When she returned outside, she was arrested, taken to the hospital, and treated for a "non-life-threatening gunshot wound," the department said.

A spokesperson noted that Lauren was "ordered to have quarterly progress reports for the next two years. Any violation reported to the court may result in potential termination of the diversion. If she successfully completes the conditions of the diversion, the case will be dismissed by the court."

She was also required to not own firearms, avoid the use of drugs and alcohol, and attend therapy.
