Rory Gibson, who currently stars as Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, previously made his daytime debut as Noah Newman on The Young and the Restless. Following CBS’s recent decision to recast Noah with former Days of Our Lives actor Lucas Adams, Gibson spoke publicly about seeing his former role continue on with a new performer.
In an interview with Na’Vell Lee for Buzzworthy Radio, Gibson discussed the recasting process, broader industry trends, and why he believes conversations around mental health, particularly among men, are essential.
When asked for his reaction to Adams joining the CBS soap opera as Noah, Gibson was supportive of the casting. “I'm stoked. I'm genuinely really excited to see where it goes,” he said.
Gibson noted that his departure from the show left room for the character to be revisited. “When I left there was so much that was still pretty open-ended,” he explained.
He added that he is eager to see where the writers take Noah next. “There was just so many unanswered questions. So, I'm genuinely very curious to see just what's going to happen and where it's going to go.”
Gibson also emphasized that he remains a fan of the series and his former castmates. “I'm such big fans of people on the show and yeah, I'm just very happy that they brought him back in,” he said.
Although he has not met Adams, Gibson said he has only heard positive things about him. “I've heard nothing but incredible things about Lucas,” he said. “I haven't had the pleasure to meet him yet. But I heard he's an incredible actor, I heard he's a terribly nice guy. I wish them nothing but the best over there.
He added, “I hope that it's going to be a fun, compelling story.”
Gibson also wondered whether the series would revisit Noah’s relationship with Audra (Zuleyka Silver). “I'm very curious to see what's going to happen with like Noah and Audra,” he said. “It was something that me and Zuleyka got to start and then it kind of just stopped all of a sudden. Very curious to see what's going to happen with that relationship because I don't think it had the opportunity to get fully fleshed out while I was there.
He concluded by encouraging fans to keep watching, “I think there's going to be a lot of exciting things over there to tune in and check out.”
