The new Street Fighter movie isn't pulling any punches in its thrilling first footage.

At the 2025 Game Awards held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday, Dec. 11, the cast and filmmakers of the upcoming video game adaptation debuted a first look for fans.

A synopsis for the movie, directed by Kitao Sakurai, reveals it'll be set in the year 1993, as "estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate and fury."

"But," the synopsis adds, "behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!"

Rounding out the cast bringing to life memorable characters from the CAPCOM arcade games include: Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoai as Akuma, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, and Eric André as Don Sauvage.

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson also appears as Balrog, Jason Momoa is Blanka, Orville Peck is Vega, Olivier Richters is Zangief, Hirooki Goto is E. Honda, Rayna Vallandingham is Juli, Alexander Volkanovski is Joe, Kyle Mooney is Marvin, and Mel Jarnson is Cammy.

This won't be the first time Street Fighter has landed on the big screen. There was a 1994 film that starred Jean-Claude Van Damme, Raul Julia, Ming-Na Wen and Kylie Minogue; then in 2009, Smallville star Kristin Kreuk led Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.

Street Fighter is in theaters Oct. 16, 2026.
