Timothée Chalamet played coy when asked if he was actually the British rapper EsDeeKid

A viral fan theory claims the actor and the rapper may be the same person

"All will be revealed," Chalamet teased

TimothĂ©e Chalamet has had plenty of transformative roles — but is an underground British rapper one of them?

For months, fans of the Marty Supreme star have wondered whether he may secretly be the viral rapper EsDeeKid, who performs with his face largely covered and has stayed mum on any identifying details about himself.

While promoting his latest movie on the British radio program Heart Breakfast on Thursday, Dec. 11, Chalamet, 29, was asked point blank whether EsDeeKid was his alter ego — and he had a cryptic response.

“I got no comment on that. No, I mean, I got no comment,” he responded.

When the hosts pointed out that Chalamet and EsDeeKid have similar eyes, and were even both photographed wearing the same skull scarf, the actor played coy once again.

“I’ve got two words on that,” he said, as he hesitated and stumbled over his words, then laughed and broke into a mischievous smile. “Two words: All will be revealed in due time. That was a little more than two words.”

Chalamet then joked about his high school alter ego Lil Timmy Tim, referencing a viral video from 2012 that features him rapping in spectacular fashion at an event at his high school in New York City.

“Let me tell you, Lil Timmy does not have the same ring to it,” he said.

Rumors began swirling earlier this year that Chalamet might somehow be EsDeeKid, mostly due to the similarities in their eyes. The actor stoked the flames further when he showed up to a Fakemink show in London in August, as Fakemink appears on EsDeeKid’s song “LV Sandals.”

Not much is known about EsDeeKid, who performs with a balaclava over his face and claims to be from Liverpool. He released his debut album Rebel in June and has more than 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify, though his real name and age are unknown.

Chalemet, meanwhile, has been open for years about his love of hip-hop and rap music, naming stars like Kid Cudi and Nicki Minaj as favorites. In 2020, he even appeared on Saturday Night Live in a sketch with Pete Davidson that saw him playing a rapper named $mokecheddathaassgetta.

He’s currently promoting his new film Marty Supreme, which opens in theaters on Dec. 25.

On Dec. 8, he stepped out at the film’s Los Angeles premiere with girlfriend Kylie Jenner in matching orange outfits.
