It premieres on Thursday, March 12.

Based on Robyn Carr's beloved book series, Netflix's hit drama Virgin River centers on Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse and midwife who moves from sunny Los Angeles to the titular town in Northern California. As she settles in, Mel builds new friendships and falls for Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), a bar owner and PTSD-addled veteran.

After six seasons, Mel and Jack got their happily ever, but the story isn't over yet. Here's everything you about Virgin River season 7, including its release date and new cast members.

Virgin River was renewed for a seventh season ahead of the season 6 premiere in December 2024. The cast announced the news in a video posted to Instagram, with the caption reading, "Good news, Virgin River is confirmed to come back for Season 7! More love, drama, and small-town charm coming your way. You're very welcome."

If that weren't enough, the series has also been renewed for season 8. It's on track to become Netflix's longest-running scripted series, surpassing Grace and Frankie and Orange Is the New Black.

Virgin River season 7 will explore Mel and Jack's life as newlyweds, including the possibility of them becoming parents. The couple has been wanting to start a family for a while now, and they might be adopting a baby from Marley (Rachel Drance), one of Mel's patients.

"The storyline with Marley and the baby does not disappear in season 7," Breckenridge told Entertainment Weekly last October. "It's pretty heavily featured. I can't tell you what happens with it, but I can tell you that it doesn't disappear. It's still there, and it's something that me and Jack have to navigate through. It brings stuff up, of course."

Breckenridge also touched on the season 6 cliffhanger, when Jack was left in shock after visiting his ex-girlfriend's home to check in on her and their twins after she didn't show up to his wedding.

"I do know [what makes him gasp]," she said. "But I can't tell you. It's too big of a thing. I couldn't possibly."

Is there a Virgin River season 7 trailer?

Netflix released the official trailer for Virgin River season 7 on Feb. 9, giving fans a sneak peek at the challenges ahead. The spotlight is on Mel and Jack as they take steps toward parenthood.

In the clip, Mel reflects on their journey, saying it marks "the end of one chapter and the beginning of another." That optimism is short-lived when a visibly upset Marley tells the couple she needs "a little time" before moving forward.

The trailer also hints at Doc's (Tim Matheson) efforts to regain the town's trust. "Some of you had lost faith in me, but being your doctor is personal to me," he says.

Other storylines are teased: Brady (Ben Hollingsworth) reaches out to Brie (Zibby Allen); Kaia (Kandyse McClure) reevaluates her relationship with Preacher (Colin Lawrence); and Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) and Denny (Kai Bradbury) learn the ropes of raising their first child.

True to form, the trailer closes with a cliffhanger. Mel and Jack sit in bed, spinning a globe as Mel says, "Wherever my finger lands, that's where we're going to go on our honeymoon." Just as her finger is about to settle on a destination, the screen cuts to black, leaving us to guess where the lovebirds are headed.

She arrives in Virgin River to review Doc's practice following the malpractice concerns raised last season, but her visit also leads to an unexpected reunion.

Cody Kearsley (Riverdale) will play Clay, "the kind of guy who gets noticed when he enters a room," and who "has experience working the rodeo circuit." He's looking to reconnect with the sister he grew up with in foster care.

Austin Nichols (John From Cincinnati) rounds out the newcomers, appearing as a mysterious figure from Mel's past.
