The 69-year-old EGOT-winning actress ripped up a cue card cohost Sunny Hostin passed to her live on air at the top of Monday's show, and criticized the gesture as "ridiculous" amid a rant about "nuance."

Minutes after Goldberg and her cohosts engaged in a staunch criticism of President Donald Trump's *60 Minutes* interview amid the ongoing government shutdown, Goldberg quipped that Trump "used an autopen" in the past during a point Hostin made.****

Later, Goldberg attempted to move the discussion along to another point, telling the audience, "The insane thing is that when people are going to go to their meetings with a judge, the meetings that they're supposed to go to..." before trailing off after Hostin was seen passing a note to her across the table.

"What the hell? What?" Goldberg said, looking down to read the note as conservative cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin stated, "I love when Sunny passes notes!"

Goldberg looked up and asserted, "It was a joke!" as Hostin, a former prosecutor and legal expert who often issues the show's legal notes on the air, explained why she sent the message across the table.

"We don't know if Trump used an autopen," Hostin clarified, all while Goldberg ripped up the panelist's note during the broadcast.

"Well, I'm sorry, the hardest thing about this job now is no one understands nuance," Goldberg said toward the audience. "You know, when you hear a joke, when somebody is fooling around, when they're not saying something specific. Especially on this show."

Goldberg continued, "I'm very specific when I'm pointing stuff out. When I'm making jokes, you know when I'm making jokes," before turning back toward Hostin's note to say, "This is ridiculous."

This is not the first time Hostin has been involved in a note-swapping incident on *The View*.

In February 2024, Hostin and Joy Behar exchanged what was later labeled an "inappropriate" note on the air.

"You guys are passing notes on television?" Griffin said at the time, laughing.

Goldberg asked the duo to "share it with the rest of the class," with Hostin pushing back as she said, "Oh, no, no, no, no, we can't. Joy and I, you know, we say things that are inappropriate."
