Four years since its last season, the Euphoriagang is back on the red carpet. Zendaya, Alexa Demie, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Maude Apatow, Jacob Elordi and the rest of the cast shut down Hollywood Boulevard to celebrate the show’s Season 3 premiere on Tuesday.

Debuting in 2019, the Sam Levinson-created drama stars Zendaya as teenage drug addict Rue Bennett, who struggles to get sober as she navigates adolescence. The polarizing show, which earned Zendaya her first Emmy Award, has long made headlines for its graphic depictions of drug use, addiction, violence and trauma. The new season debuts Sunday and picks up five years later.

Tuesday’s premiere set the internet ablaze as fans called attention to just about every buzzworthy moment. Zendaya, fresh off her press tour for The Drama, didn’t pose with any cast members on the red carpet, while Summer House darling Ciara Miller appeared to coyly address the Amanda Batula and West Wilson controversy. During the screening, Sweeney shared a kiss with her boyfriend, Scooter Braun, while Levinson got emotional as he talked about the late Euphoria actor Angus Cloud.

Below, Yahoo’s rounded up the buzziest moments from the Euphoria Season 3 premiere.

Zendaya fuels rift rumors

All eyes were on Zendaya when she arrived at the premiere on Tuesday. The actress, who stepped out in an Ashi Studios halter gown, continued to fuel Tom Holland wedding rumors when she yet again sported a gold band on her ring finger.

But fans were quick to point out that Zendaya appeared to be posing alone for photos, rather than with Levinson or any of her costars. Demie, Sweeney, Schafer and Apatow, for instance, took photos both as a group and alongside Levinson. The Drama star did, however, greet Levinson on the red carpet, though their interaction was brief.

Zendaya and Levinson’s rumored rift has been chronicled in the years during Euphoria’s hiatus. Levinson was previously embroiled in controversy after a 2022 Daily Beast report alleged that he fostered a “toxic” work environment on the set of Euphoria Season 2. He then received more backlash in 2023, when Rolling Stone published a scathing exposé about his controversial series, The Idol, and how “disgustingly off the rails” it had gotten behind the scenes. Levinson was also accused of promoting misogynistic storylines on The Idol.

How does Zendaya factor into all of this? Well, the Dune actress was, according to reports, annoyed by how Levinson’s involvement with The Idolcontributed to the delays surrounding Euphoria Season 3. She also reportedly grew more upset with Levinson after the Rolling Stone exposé was published.

Ciara Miller alludes to ‘Summer House’ drama

It’s been a whirlwind few weeks for Miller, who famously appears on the beloved Bravo series, Summer House. When cast members Amanda Batula and West Wilson confirmed their romance last Tuesday in matching Instagram statements, fans immediately looked to Miller for a reaction. Miller had ties to both of them: Wilson is her ex-boyfriend and Batula was her very good friend.

Miller, who was a red carpet correspondent for Tuesday’s premiere, spoke to Sweeney about her character, Cassie. Fans were quick to call out the parallels between that storyline and Miller’s personal life: In Euphoria, Cassie ends up stealing and marrying her best friend Maddy’s toxic ex, Nate.

Miller told Sweeney, “If you steal your friend’s ex-boyfriend, I feel like you oughta get married.”

Sam Levinson pays tribute to Angus Cloud

During the screening, Levinson took a moment to honor Cloud, who died in 2023 from a fentanyl overdose. Cloud famously played Fezco, a local drug dealer and brotherly figure to Rue, for two seasons. Addressing why it “took so long” between Seasons 2 and 3, Levinson pointed out the “obvious factors,” like the writer’s strike and scheduling conflicts, before speaking on Cloud’s death.

“When Angus died, it was tough. I loved him deeply and I fought hard to keep him clean,” Levinson said. “I learned a whole lot that year but what I realized, more than anything, is that death is what gives life meaning.”

Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun enjoy a date night

Sweeney brought Braun to the Euphoria Season 3 premiere. The Christy actress was seen sharing a kiss with Braun ahead of the screening on Tuesday. The pair was also photographed holding hands as they left the afterparty later that night.

Sweeney and Braun were first linked last June, when they were spotted together in Italy during Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding. They’ve been fueling romance rumors ever since.

Jacob Elordi and Maude Apatow’s sweet reunion

Euphoria costars Elordi and Apatow had a sweet reunion at the premiere. In a video shared to X, Elordi is casually walking the carpet before he sees Apatow standing nearby. A surprised Elordi smiles big and the duo embraces before posing for photos together.

Apatow also reunited with Schafer on the red carpet. The pair ran up to one another, giggled and posed for photos.

Sam Levinson on Eric Dane’s appearance

Eric Dane, who died from ALS in February, famously played Cal Jacobs on Euphoria during the show’s first two seasons. He will appear in some Season 3 scenes, which he filmed after his ALS diagnosis. During Tuesday’s premiere, Levinson spoke to Variety about reuniting with Dane on set.

“I was very close to him. I loved him dearly. I said to him, ‘Look, Eric. I’ll take you in whatever way you want to show up,’” Levinson said. “He just showed up with such grace and dignity. He was a consummate professional all the way through and I miss him.”

A fourth season isn’t off the table

During a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Barrymore asked Zendaya if this would be the final season of Euphoria, to which she replied, “I think so.” The Drama star added of the series, “closure is coming.”

Levinson, however, isn’t ruling out any possibilities.

“I write every season like it’s the last season,” Levinson told Extra. “We’ll see what HBO wants and what I feel like I can do, you know, deliver.”
